Being 50 - a time for re-invention?

I don't know about you but I have realised that I know my potential! Now to me that's a powerful statement. I know what I can do, what I can contribute and what I need to do to get there. This has all come about over the past couple of years.

Turning 50 has been proven as a time of personal adjustment (read Daniel Pink’s latest work , 'When: The Scientific Secrets of Perfect Timing' - Interesting reading for everything we do not just mid-life) and I'm a firm believer that it is a time when we re-think our goals, wants, desires and focus.

This period is different for everyone - both in its intensity and in its importance. For one person it may be the realisation that they are 50 and haven't reached their career goals and it's now or never. For others it may be that they feel it's now time for them because they have given up so much to raise children and support a partner and forgotten who they are or you may have a great career, never wanted or had children but feel there is more out there... either of these realisations may sit dormant within the person and be 'pushed aside' because their lives are otherwise great.

And I agree, not everyone has such a period at this time in their lives however, I believe that most people will have some sort of realisation that life is now in the second stage. The question arises that if they don't start to look inwardly at what they want (or in some cases feel external pressure to be or have something more at this stage in their lives) or don't want that it will be too late.

OR they may start to be CURIOUS about what else there could be for them.

Being curious doesn't necessarily mean what your interests or hobbies are. It's more a way of thinking than an action. Being curious ties in nicely with being in your 50's and looking at your internal compass and re-adjusting where you want to go in your life. Many of us have lost a lot of our curiosity through routine and familiarity of our daily tasks.

Curiosity opens up our world , our imagination can go crazy because it's only being curious it's not requiring any action - YET.

Being curious may help you start to realise your own POTENTIAL and open up a world of possibilities for you. These possibilities can bring opportunity which when planted can grow into your goals and wants.

Using this time to do some self coaching, look inward and work to seek clarity about what you want and who you want to be may well see you re-invent yourself - your work, career, love, life...

Be warned my friends that this does not mean comparing yourself to someone else or even worse comparing your beginning to someones's middle or end. Success is subjective and its measurement is in your eyes only. There will always be someone more accomplished than you - don't subject yourself to this torture.

If you are interested in looking closer at what could be out there for you, I am offering a FREE 'Whats my potential?'call - this is a no obligation one off call where we delve into what you want and how you can open up your curious nature to see what is possible for you.

I hope we get to chat but if not, start your journey to re-invention today by becoming curious!

Bye for now.

Dawn
